Membership

After an initial free trial lesson, new members can immediately enjoy the many benefits from joining our organisation.

As well as supplying free uniforms and membership / insurance to our students, our fees represent incredible value with expert tuition given by our highly trained Instructors at a relatively low cost.

In a further effort to improve the running of our Clubs, we have introduced payment of training fees by monthly direct-debit. There is no contract - a simple agreement is all that is necessary to pay for lessons. The agreement can be cancelled at any time without penalty. This system reduces the time wasted on administration at the beginning of every class, giving our Instructors more time for tuition.

Taekwon-Do...A way of life.

General Choi, Hong Hi-Founding Father of Taekwon-Do

What exactly is the meaning of Taekwon-Do?

To put it simply Taekwon-Do is a version of unarmed combat designed for the purpose of self-defence. It is more than just that, however.

It is the scientific use of the body in the method of self-defence; a body that has gained the ultimate use of it's facilities through intensive physical and mental training.

It is a martial art that has no equal in either power or technique. Though it is a martial art, it's discipline, technique and mental training are the mortar for building a strong sense of justice, fortitude, humility and resolve. It is this mental conditioning that separates the true practitioner from the sensationalist, content with mastering only the fighting aspects of the art.

This is one of the reasons that Taekwon-Do is called an art of self-defence.

It also implies a way of thinking and life, particularly in instilling a concept and spirit of strict self-imposed discipline and an ideal of noble moral rearmament.

The nearest description of it is almost a cult.

Translated literally,"Tae" stands for jumping or flying, to kick or smash with the foot.

"Kwon" denotes the fist-chiefly to punch or destroy with the hand or fist.

"Do" means an art or way-the right way built and paved by the saints and sages in the past.

Thus taken collectively "Taekwon-Do" indicates the mental training and the techniques of unarmed combat for self defence as well as health, involving the skilled application of punches, kicks, blocks and dodges with bare hands and feet to the rapid destruction of the moving opponent or opponents.

Little Tiger Cubs

Gordon Linton Taekwon-Do Schools are proud to announce the launch of our new 'Little Tiger Cubs' training programme, designed specifically for children age 3 to 5 years.

Little Tiger Cubs

The training programme is a mixture of simple training exercises and games designed to assist in the physical development, improved health and increased fitness of each child. The programme will encourage the development of motor skills, balance, endurance, flexibility, strength, and the coordination of eye, hand and foot. Through this development, each child should find greater self-confidence and self-esteem. Our reward system will lead to each child becoming appreciative of the concept of reward coming after effort.
